Die before 3 years now my old mans sister will be dead in a few days because of
Prolapsed Cloacag I don't have money or a car for a vet I'm starting to hate parrots! Their a waste of money considering the lifespan of them I rather buy geese for 10 dollars which live 40 years compared to something so pricey which don't live long. Time to get rid of the rest. time to sell them to a pet store let someone else take a heart break after 3 years. I'm done with parrots!

Im sorry Julia I know its hard to loose our friends and it seems like such a short time but think of all the good they bring to our lives, I know specially the smaller birds who are less hardy are hard to keep nice and healthy but you know you wouldnt want anyone else looking after there fids

It's your decision on what to do - if they aren't making you happy then find them good homes and take a break, either temporary or permanent. You sound like you're burned out, and that happens to all of us at times. I got burnt out on my fish tank when they kept dying for no reason (bad shop sold bad fish and poisoned tank, nitrite spikes i couldn't control, etc) and I just drained it, added sand, and threw a crab in it instead lol

Wow! It sounds to me like you should give your birds a new home. If you no longer love them, then hopefully someone will.

There's a point when having many pets becomes having too many pets. One person can only do so much and if you're this frustrated perhaps you have reached that point. The point of owning birds, or any pet is to enrich and add something good to your life. If the only thing they are adding to yours is frustration then maybe it's time for a break. Maybe fewer birds would be more manageable and more enjoyable. Maybe you need a complete break from them. Whatever the case it sounds as if the current situation is not working. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

What makes me more mad is it's always my favorite that dies. And I've been selling allot I've sold at least 20 budgies in the past year. And now theirs a new list of who's going. That consist of 3 budgies 3 finches and who ever else I think of before the person picks them up.

perhaps its just all too overwhelming?

parrots are generally long lived. no parrots live less than 10 years that i know of. most live very very long time, though the smaller ones tend to be 10-20 years.... some even 30 years.... thats a long time to me... whats considered short lived?

When they come from healthy stock, are raised in optimal surroundings, and well taken care of budgies can live from 5-20 years. Cockatiels should live 10-20+ years. It all depends on their genetic history and where they are purchased in addition to the care they receive. If they're from a pet shop who gets from a bulk breeder with little concern for their genetics, then budgies generally live 3-5 years because they've been inbred and overbred :( Same with tiels
