I'm happy the son brought the birds to a shelter. This is so sad.
yes it is, we seem to hear about these things with birds every couple of months. I can see how it can happen with some breeds. They breed so quick and for an enthusiast are so hard to give up. Says in the article it was costing him over a grand a month in feed alone.

I saw that. At least he didn't panic and release them.
I didn't even think of that possibility. I'm glad he didn't release them as well.

Let's hope the shelter where they've been sent now can deal with the birds health issues and get them cleaned up, checked out and on their way to a happier healthier life!

They should not be permitted to purchase birds in the future. That is just extreme neglect.
I agree these people shouldn't be allowed to own pets of any type ... this is pure neglect. Hopefully the proper authority's have been contacted and they will do something about this case and prevent this person from owning any animals in the future. Especially birds!
