Question...

I have two female Budgies...Abbey and Sadie. I'm considering fostering two more females(the owner has become ill). Athough my two squabble from time to time, there is not any real fighting, and they actually enjoy each other...preening and regurgitating. Would there be a big problem homing the two new females in the same cage with Abbey and Sadie. My two are semi tame...I'm still working on it after making some mistakes! The two new girls are tame...The cage is large, and space is not a problem.

I would be worried about territorial disputes - the cage you have right now is your two girls' "territory" and any new budgies, even a male, would be "trespassing" in their eyes. Do you have another cage you could put beside your girls' cage with the new ones in it, just so they could get used to each other before putting them in the new cage.

Also, if you do put them all together, I would take your girls out first, rearrange the cage so it looks "new", than put them all in it at the same time - new territory, no one needs to defend it.

Good luck! I hope this helps :)
Thanks! I do have extra cages, but there all located out of town ...to use when we visit my parents and daughter. It's easier than taking cages with me every time. Rearranging the present cage sounds good...I'm hoping that the new girls will come with a cage temporarily, as I will need to quarantine...It may not happen, as I've emailed the rescue and have not received a response as of yet....
I would try to house them separate as well because budgies tend to get rather territorial, like Lisa said. Good for you in fostering them!
Is it Willow , and ummm ... Lily! ?
they are adorable :)
It is Stacey...and Scottie, a Cockateil, as well....I still haven't heard back. I guess they don't need foster homes.

Scottie :lovehearts: he is a cutie!

hummm , they should since they have ALOT of animals to care for as is hahaha. Did you see their aviary ?
Yes, I did. It's not something I'd want...too much poop! Maybe I'll email again, or call...fostering sounds like a great idea, as you don't make a big commitment unless you want to....
that would be ALOT of poop :)
hopefully they'll reply soon
