Hi everyone :)

I've been gone for a while because of some shifting and changing in my life, so I figured I'd update you all on the situation now that it seems to have settled out.

Basically, to make a long story short, my partner and I decided that we are not working well as a couple and have decided to be "friends". Actually this is a very good arrangement for us both and there are no hard feelings (we will continue to co-habitate and our birds are bonded individually, most of them to her anyway, so they aren't seeming stressed!). Part of the most difficult things we had to do, though, was re-home a number of our "rescue" guinea pigs and parakeets. So we are now down to a total of 6 pets (as opposed to 20), including "my" birds, "her" bird, and "her" guinea pigs.

For those wondering, Popcorn, our IRN, bonded very strongly with my "ex"/roommate and doesn't like me much, so she and Popcorn will always remain together, even if we split. This makes me sad, but I know it's best for Popcorn to be with the human she prefers. On the other hand, I have gotten a new job and can now provide much better for Gemmy, my diamond dove (who is getting a huge new cage in the next few weeks!) and my new cockatiel baby, "CC", who is a partial-rescue (sounds crazy, refer to my CC thread in the cockatiels forum, hehe). I'm very excited about being able to take them both to "real" avian vet visits for a full battery of testing as well as a clip for CC and new "toys" for them both. (Gemmy doesn't really play with toys but he loooooves fake plants and real wood perches).

Unfortunately we will have to find a new home for our budgies, simply because we do not want to split up the flock if we needed to move out or change houses. I am hoping to find someone willing to take all five together. (If you know anyone who lives near Philadelphia, PA, who might want them, let me know!!)

In the long run I am still searching for a grey to add to my little family. People laugh because apparently I only like gray birds....which is oddly enough true. But I have wanted an African Grey all my life and hopefully in the next 3-5 years I will be able to find the perfect bird for me. I'm 25 and settling down at this point, so I think I will be ready for that commitment soon.

So anyway...

...hi!

:D

Thanks guys. It's sort of a crummy situation, but....it's better for the birds in the long run not to be split up.

:) A grey is probably a long time in coming, but i can dream, right? Hehe.
