I'm wondering about my Sun Conure's droppings. They seem different to me. Sometimes they are normal looking, and then other times they look like this:

Is this something I should be very concerned about?

Hmm that's pretty odd. What are you feeding her/him?

Right now just seed from the Bird Farm. It has a lot of dried fruits and other things in it, it's a really great seed mix. Um, is it perhaps because he is still a baby? Sometimes he seems to have normal droppings, and then other times they are super, super tiny, and then other times they are like this. It just isn't consistent.

The size of bird droppings varies considerably according to how long it has been since they let go. Almost all of my birds can have really huge droppings or really small droppings. In the morning they may have gigantic droppings. Then, if they are getting ready to go some place, they may empty themselves before take-off even though they have little to empty.

The dropping can also contain larger or smaller amounts of urates. Some will also be quite watery and others seen very dry. This also seems to vary with whatever they have been doing. They often seem to become progressively more watery the longer they have been with me.

I can't actually see the picture well enough to give any specific opinion regarding your own conure's pooh. How close are you to the Bird Farm? If you are worried about his/her weight, or simply worried about the pooh, can you take the bird back to the store so that they can feel the bird and weigh the bird and make sure that he is eating properly? He was there not very long ago, so they should be able to assess how he is doing in that regard. They SHOULD be willing to do that for free.

I'm not too concerned. Everything else about him seems okay. I see him eat and drink water normally. Besides, we are going to the vet in less than a week for Minnie's check up since we've been giving her those meds. We are also going to begin switching to pellets that day with the vet's help, and I'll be switching my Sun to pellets, too. Every couple days, we are taking Minnie and now that we have my Sun, we'll take him to the vet and weigh them as they are switching. So if there is any problems we will probably get it checked out very shortly. Thank you so much for that post Nanay, it was helpful!
