I just received the two SMALL Thermo Perches I ordered. I guess I didn't think it through, because these perches are HUGE!!! You might keep this in mind, considering the size of your bird's cage, if you order!

Here's a picture to give you some idea. I'll let you know if they use them!

Birds benefit from all sizes of perches. I would like to know if they like them, though.

At bedtime tonight, I put Angelina, my P'let on hers and she didn't jump off of it immediately, so we'll see. When I put Libby, my Conure into her sleep cage and on the perch, she scrambled off of it immediately -- but she's always afraid of new things for a few days.

The instructions said that they may not like it or use it immediately, but to just leave it alone and they'll eventually get used to it being there -- I HOPE! It's been warmer the last few days, but it's bound to get cold soon -- it's November and Missouri after all!

Time will tell! Will post on our progress.

Nannay -

I do have lots of perches of different sizes and shapes in their cages, and know it's good for them, I just didn't expect this thing to be giantic! And this is the small size! If they use it though, it'll be great!

Jo Anne,
I finally saw one of these in the bird store, and even though you told me it was huge, I was still surprised at how big it is! lol

Did your birds every decide they liked it?

They are big and I got the small one! The end of it is small enough for my P'let though. It's got grooves cut into it, looks like the lines on a tree trunk, which gives them something to grab onto. I got mine on line, but noticed that "my" bird shop carries them now -- cheaper than what I paid (of course!).

My Conure really likes the one in her sleeping tent, and she heads for it when I put her in there at the end of the day. She's a tent sleeper though, so I imagine she heads for her tent after her feet warm up!

My Parrotlet will stand on it a bit, but I don't think she sleeps on it, judging from her stack of poops in the morning. It's there if she wants it though.

I plan on leaving it in their cages during warm weather, so they stay used to it, but will unplug it.

Abby, you can do a search for "Thermo Perch" and find them on line. For safety, this is apparently the best brand. They are fairly expensive (I bought 2), so you might keep that in mind, just in case your bird doesn't like them.

Do the birds really enjoy them? Do they like them more than normal perches?

I've seen my Conure on it (it's in her sleeping cage), but my Parrotlet is still avoiding it. At least it's there during the night if they need it. I've placed my Parrotlet on it, so she does know it has warmth to it.

Abby: I'm not sure what you mean about a "normal" perch. They have many different types of perches in their cages, but this is the only warm one. They both seem to like the "Booda" type perches that I have twisted and bent throughout their cages. I think they can get a real good grip on them. They both move around so much, exploring here and there, that it's hard to tell if they have a favorite!
