The best food for your parrot, aka Tinkerbell Mash can be made by you. Made with love and care and with the best ingredients that you can get.

Folks have written to me that their birdies that used to pluck stopped plucking after they switched to this mash. Please check first that your birdie has no other medical causes for plucking. And if thats the case, switching to the mash might help you too.

See how Tink Mash is made, and perhaps you might like to change too.
shanlung: Morning with Harry & the decision// Sultan of Oman Palace// Tinkerbell Mash Batch 7

The baggies must be kept in the freezer, with one thawed baggie in the fridge.
I feed about 25-30 grams of mash mixed with chopped vege salad/fruits in morning.
Another feed of 25-30 grams of mash mixed with chopped vege salad/fruits when I get back for lunch.

In addition some sunflower seeds/almonds/fruits placed in foraging points as well as used as treats for Riamfada.

(see below for foraging points)

I believe the mash can remain good for the entire day. At least in Riamfada's room kept at 24-25C.

Read the report done on 11 & 14 June 2010 and you decide for yourself.

*boot*

So folks fixated on pellets can see what they miss giving their birdies.
Not only a lot less expensive, but so much more wholesome for them that no commercial pellets can hope to match.

That is awesome! Wish I could find the recipe in cups and ounces cause I don't have a scale to measure it in weight. I guess I could check and see how much a scale would cost.

I seen recently a spate of recalls after recalls from various commercial birdie food companies.

Do you wait in anticipation that your birdie is fed with stuff that's being recalled?

Do you cross your fingers thinking thats about as much as you can do?

Or do you make your own birdie food with love and care, knowing that will be so much better than those stuff being poured out of boxes.

Cheaper than the cheapest, and yet so much better than the most expensive.

Booting this up to give folks food for thought.

BTW, many of those with birdies that plucked wrote to me that after a couple of months on Tinkerbell Mash, their birdies stop plucking.

Thank you for reminding us of this. I'm sure the new members will be taking interest in making your mash!
