My first bird was a male Lutino cockatiel called Paulie. We then built him an aviary, got him a mate, got some budgies and it grew from there!

How did you start? And what was your first? Tell me a little bit about them :giggle:

My first bird was a cockatiel - she was given to me for my first Christmas ;D She was a standard pearl. She died when I was 9, we just found her on the bottom of the cage. Then we got Coco and Peekaboo, Moose's parents, and bred them. At one point we had about 15 tiels. From there, we moved on to cockatoos and it went on from there! Here's a pic of Snoopy!

It's a shame they all died :( I rehomed all of my old birds and I think Paulie is still alive but hey you never know.

How come all of your budgies kept dying? Were the only ones dying coming from that one place?

They all came from the same place this store gets 200 unweaned baby budgies every few weeks they all look sick half them cant even perch they tried breeding parrotlets themselves the chicks were so plucked I think they died there puppies are diseased
I once got a lovebrid their it died 4 days later my mom bought a puppy their it died a week later I've bought a cockatiel their ended up having gardia I had to treat him. I bought numerous budgies their none of them making to a year they have tropical fish which float dead In The tank this stores been introuble for numerous stuff like reptile abuse and puppies coming from puppymills but it's still open. That's why I buy my birds from petco petsmart and pets supplies plus there birds are well cared for.

That's horrible!

Why did you keep going back and buying more then? :(

Hmm I sometimes think like that but the problem is either way they die, so we don't really save them :(

Oh that's fair enough then. Were all the birds kept in one cage? Or too many in them? Diseases may have spread to the ones you bought that died. I hope your others are good though!

This is just their budgies
I remember you posting that on TC or TB that is a total disgrace having so many birds in one cage  just report them every day till they eventually do something.

My first bird which is my first pet is tweety pie my budgie i loved him so much
i was 8 when i got him, he was very tame. I come in from school and called him and he would fly to me and stayed with me all the time :lovehearts:
My grandad was having work done to the house and he made the work men a cup of tea and tweety pie flew out :(, many of times door had been open and he wouldn't budge.

Oh my gosh! That's horrific! Why don't you report it to somebody? There's so many in one place

My first bird was a cobalt budgie named Rosco. We got him from Pet Supplies Plus when I was around ten years old. I knew a few other people who had cockatiels, and they told me how great their birds were, so I wanted to own one, too. I did some research and my parents took my to Pet Supplies Plus to buy him. He was so sweet and so beautiful.

Less than a year later, seeing as my parents wouldn't let me get anymore birds, I convinced my little brother that he should get one, so he asked my parents and they let him buy one. I "helped" him pick one out, and then I convinced him to put Lola in Rosco's cage. My brother gave up on caring for her and trying to buy Lola her own cage, so she pretty much became mine. Hehe. (That was evil. ;) )

The more research I did and the more time I spent with my birds, so more I began loving them. So it just shot on from there. :D

Wow...that really stinks....But the problem with buying more birds and pets from that store you're encouraging them and keeping them in business. I no longer buy pets from pet stores, at least not birds and dogs, because I know where they come from. (Mills) And it's not just that store, it's a lot of major pet stores as well.

What are these mills?

They are horrible places where birds are put in tiny, unsanitary cages and are just there so they can breed and so the people running the places can make money of the babies. Most of those big pet stores buy their birds from mills. It is just like puppy mills, just for birds. It is really awful.

They are horrible....just plain horrible......

This video is sad. I'm not sure if the clips in these videos are from actual bird mills or not, but that gives you a bit of an idea what the conditions are at bird mills. They are horrible. You might want to look up puppy mills as well.

After seeing clips of these bird mills in several different places, I really want to put a stop to them. It's sort of a cause I've found. It just breaks my heart...

Okay, after reading the description under this video, I see where the clips come from. It will tell you more.

Then I got Vanity (conure), then Pumpernickel (RIP), and then Biscotti (in my siggy). :)
