1) Go as big as you possibly can providing you can get the correct bar spacing. My quaker pair were living in a 6ft long x 4ft wide x 7ft tall aviary. Obviously the average home won't fit that indoors :lol: But please do get the largest cage possible if you can

2) I feed a good high quality South American parrot seed mix, for things like conures and smaller species. Amazon and obviously macaw diets are going to have too much big stuff in them. I also fed as much fresh food as possible, though I did not make chop at the time. I do recommend feeding them chop and a good seed mix as their staple diet and toss in a bit of fruit and similar daily too

3) My quakers loved anything they could attempt to nest in They also loved to shred

4) Just look at them! They're so freakin' cute! They have such an attitude that it makes you laugh alllllll the time. They are so chatty and grumbly too. When they're in a foul mood, if they know how to talk, they mutter away to themselves :rofl:

5) Have you ever heard them in person? I actually had to rehome my two due to neighbours complaints... just warning you! Watching YouTube videos is on thing but boy can they crank it up

6) Clicker and target, works on any animal

7) Can't help you out here. I would just say they require the same as most species

8) I worked with a quaker who was a very tame girl. She only liked specific people and every day when I went to see her she would sit on me and mutter away to herself, beak grinding and poofing up against my hair

 

I have 2 quakers

1) My quakers cage size is 100cm wide by 70cm depth.

2) This is what's in my quakers food mix: Medium Striped Sunflower Seeds, Buckwheat, Paddy Rice, Chillies, Micronised Barley, Yellow Maize, Red Maize, Safflower Seeds, Groats, Walnut Pieces, White Pumpkin Seeds, Sultanas, Diced Pineapple, Coconut Pieces, Micronised Peas, Diced Carrots, Almond Nut Pieces, Hazel Nut Pieces, Clipped Oats, Red Dari, White Dari, Hemp seed, Diced Papaya, Banana Chips, Cedar Nuts and White Sunflower Seeds. They also get fruit and veg daily. Their favorite food is sweet potato. They also get some scrambled eggs once a week.

3) They like shredding paper and they like little caves that they can dive into away from danger.

4) Funny and cute.

5) Can be quite loud at times but they don't scream all day long like my conures.

6) I don't do any training with my quakers, they don't bite and they behaved well when they're out of their cage.

7) Same as any other parrots

I can't answer about either one is better. Over here in UK seed diet with lots of fruit and veg is more popular than pellets, I just stick to what I know ...... I forgot to say I also feed my quakers cooked pulses - they love it!

 

1. BIG!
2. Gloop, fresh produce (one fruit, one veggie, one leafy green -a different one each day) and a good quality cockatiel seed mix for dinner
3. Molted feathers, sticks, branches, leaves and pieces of paper (the bigger, the better, as far as she is concerned)
4. Their indomitable spirit
5. I don't have any but they are temperate climate birds so they NEED to be kept at a strict solar schedule (which is very hard for most people) or they become VERY hormonal
6. Same as with any other bird, repetition, repetition and lots of praise when they do it right.
7. Popsicle sticks and anything that can be 'woven' together
8. Lots (I grew up with them back home)
9. They don't do well when they are caged too many hours a day
